    Tarnhemd Sumpftarn

    Hi everyone!

I would like to hear your opinion on this camouflage smock in water pattern.
Strangely all the buttons have been replaced with french army buttons!

Supposedly it came from a household clearance.

Any input is highly appreciated, thank you.

Thank you for the comment, Anmarlodz.

It's just odd with these buttons
Also I forgot to mention, there is no RBNr. and size indication present..

I have heard that the french used Panthers in their Army after the war but
      sniper smocks!?

No doubt the Germans confiscated large stocks of French buttons. They recycled everything....including 1940 dated French Colonial Fez head gear for W-SS muslims.

Original smock as already stated. Not all sumpftarn smocks were stamped/marked. I have seen French buttons on other WW2 German clothing. The Germans also recycled captured French shirts that they later wore in the tropical theatre.

An example of a captured French button on some tropical breaches.
