Recently purchased a small collection of TR period armbands and am thus far unable to identify those shown here.
Top, left to right, in descending order:
1. Plain red linen or cotton with an integral band as part of the weave at the top and bottom, also bearing an ink stamp (circular with lettering and eagle/swastika at the centre) on the reverse which is illegible.
2. Plain white cotton (stained) bearing an ink stamp on the front which seems to read, in part "Der S.....militar / VI / Strasburg". I believe this might be that as worn by military umpires (Heer, KM, LW and W/SS) at military exercises.
3. Dark blue coarse cotton material with the white letter "O" machine-stitched to the face of the armband (Luftschutz armband of undetermined purpose?).
4. Finer blue cotton material with the letter "M" machine-stitched to the face of the armband (ditto as above?).
5. Pale blue cotton or linen with an integral band in white as part of the weave at the top and bottom, bearing a blank white circular patch machine-sewn onto the face of the armband with an ink stamp at the centre which is illegible. On the reverse is the integrally machine-stitched lettering "BEVO-WUPPERTAL". This style of armband to me is reminiscent of being Luftschutz?
All comments and assistance in identifying these armbands will be appreciated.
Thanks for looking,
John
