Heer Tropical O/S Cap Cutoff for Review?

    Hi, folks,

I recently saw this Heer Tropical overseas cap insignia/cutoff for sale,
and would like to get your opinions re: its' originality, please?

Any thoughts or opinions would be very welcome!

    Many thanks,
    John

    1 more detail...

    Sorry,
The detail of the Waffenfarbe sewing didn't come through on first pic.
    I'll try again!

Looks like a Hans Brandt 842 sidecap from the beehive cache that has been cut-up for the parts.

Exactly. That sewing of the eagle's a dead give-away.
Someone's been a smart arse and added the soutache to hop up the price and note the washed affect of the cotton.

          Great! Thanks!

Wow! You guys are great! I thought it looked too brand-new to be real,
but apparently such things are possible! I also thought the soutache
was not factory, due to the way it was inserted at the bottom...

I've not heard of the Bee Hive Cache -- Were the caps overall in excellent
condition, partly damaged, or? Hard to imagine somebody doing this to an
          original cap in mint condition!

          Thanks again,
          John

This thread goes into the details of the beehive cache.

Yes it's very troubling that someone would slice up an original unissued sidecap to use the materials/grommets to make either a fake M40 or tropical shoulderstraps. & sell off the insignia as a "cut-off," Surely it's not the only one either...

The guy who found the caps cut up quite a few really damaged ones just to make them saleable it didnt matter to him at the time has he had hundreds of good caps,in fact he gave me 3-4 as i bought 20 caps from him

While that may be possible in this case, hundreds of these caps have been altered by adding a soutache post war for profit. Or have been cut up to build fake M40's
