I know the serious of this seller, but I whant to be sure, nobody's perfect and could make a mistake.
I don't have a good smock close to me to make a comparison.

the smock is 110 % genuine , take a look at camouflage uniforms of the german wehrmacht ,page 124 onwards ,its a text book example and i know Peter does his research and would not post repos , as for the repo smocks i once got stung with a repo and i know they are nothing in comparison to the one on his site and the one i have
and yes its mint and very rare
here is a picture of mine , the real one
          regards

Thank's for your reply and pics!
Your smock looks to be the same construction than Perter's one!!! Good news.
How was the fake you get (HBT or coton matérial, sewing)?
Peter is definitly a serious gay!!!!

THANK YOU FOR ALL INFORMATIONS ABOUT THIS SMOCK AND THE ACTUAL FAKES

                  gd smock

                  i dont know about peter being a serious GAY but he is genuine , as for the smock i first bought , it ended up being a copy made from a firm in germany called Sturm , it was a cotton construction and even had a RB number and dated 1943 , the sewing inside was like that at the bottom of a nike t shirt , but i had never seen a real one or held one and i must admit i didnt listen to members of a previous forum who told me it was a fake , i then met a gentleman who had a real GD smock and showed me the comparisons to the repo and there was no mistake , so i sent it back and eventually got my money back , but the dealer who sold it in the first place was convinced it was real , I know that the originals were made in HBT allthough one has turned up in Poland in the 70s 0r 80s in cotton but it is not known if its a field made piece as there is no photographic evidence of these been worn or manufactured {but i could be wrong }
                  hope this helps

There was a GrossDeutschland pattern smock? This is new information to me, could someone please explain the differences and general information about these?

This is a Heer first pattern smock that was general issue throughout the Army. I don't know how the term GD smock got started.Yes there are lots of pictures showing GD members wearing them, but nothing I've ever seen implies they were the only unit to have them.

Oh by the way, the smock at the Guild is textbook in my opinion. looks like the heavier/thicker HBT material.

I do have a question concerning the first pattern smock. Were they produced in a thinner HBT material too. Reason I ask is these smocks used to be rarer than their SS counterparts. Now I see them everywhere. I had a chance to look at one and technically it looked okay. I was told they found a bunch in some depot.Probably the same depot all the Panzer Officers Overseas hats,2d pattern Hbt wraps came from.Strange they never find anything as mundane as a M43 Tunic or hat.

Heres one up for sale on another well known dealer site. Its similar to the ones I have been seeing. I'm not saying its bad, I just wanted to know what other members feel about them. Regards Jim

From the photos on that link the smock looks original. I can say that these smocks in HBT are heavily faked now. The fakes are pretty convincing, the markings are one area they do not have down yet. As with other uniform items.

I can only comment on Peter's reputation. Great guy, has tons of integrity and will always stand behind what he sells.

Years ago I bought a GD cufftitle, a year later he found out they were high quality repo from a credited source, Peter contacted me and asked me to return it.

You pay a heavier price, but you get the real goods without the risk.

                            Go for it!

                            Good luck

                              hi Jim
i have owned three 1st pattern smocks in the past and they have all been identicle to each other , including construction which was very interesting and i dont think a repo source would go to that extreme when making a copy , every single part of the camo material was used and nothing wasted , As for rareity if you keep looking especially on the webb you will find what you are after . As for the thinner smock i have never seen or heard of , but iam always learning but i would have to look at the construction to compare it to the HBT as i think production would have been the same ,
ISNT it a pitty that fakes are spoiling it for the collectors
                              regards andy
ps as for peter , i have dealt with him in the past and cannot fault his service
