    Heer eagle on blue

    Hi Guys

This one has me scratching my head- it's no doubt genuine and embroidered on light blue cotton twill. I thought at first that this may just be a backing and that the wool had been mothed but in hand the material is too thick and there is no trace of any wool ever having been on top.

Could it be some kind of tropical variation or possibly an Eastern volunteer unit?

    Any thoughts much appreciated!

    Many thanks

    Patrick

Maybe it is for the very early admin guys that used the blue grey facings!!

          Hi Patrick,

I have seen these eagles attributed to Sonderfuhrer officers, and also officers in the Russian Army of Liberation.

It looks original to me, interesting backing cloth.

          Nice find!

          All the best,

          Mark

              Hello,

Wow from a Sonderfuhrer eagle to a rare POA Officers breast eagle. That is a great leap of faith for absolutely no evidence in what it really is.

A Nachschub officer had it made up for on his white tunic for a summer outdoor wedding. We can make up stuff all day. Is that strangely the date 1941 on the back?

Sonderfuhrer DID use a gray backed breast eagle (similar to the gray band on the
visor cap - I once had a visor where the dark green cap band was covered by a gray one)
I have an example in the collection of the gray backed Sonderfuhrer breast eagle
and will post if there's interest in seeing it.
