    Artillery Officer Tunic, Opinions

    Hello everyone,

I would like everyones opinion on this tunic that I recently acquired. I have been told that the eagle and collar tabs are originals, but that they have been reapplied to the uniform. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Besides being very rough, it displays nicely on the outside.

    Thanks,
    Hayden

From the condition of the boards, collar tabs and eagle I would say that they are original to the tunic, as to whether the collar tabs have been reapplied the biggest give away would be on the reverse to see if there was any signs of the original holes.

The breast eagle I would say has been reapplied, many had them taken off when they became POWs as part of the de nazification process...the eagle and collars might have been taken off by the owner at the end of the war and put in the pockets.

But the wear on all the insignia is matching so would say original to the tunic..pity about the rodent damage to the lining

          best wishes
          David
