Panzer/Stug Wraps, Model 1,2,3 ???

I studied a lot threads here, but could anyone give me a short exlaination of the Differences between the 3 Models of the black Wraps? And what about the field grey?

1st model: Piping around collar and no buttons or button holes to close it all the way up.
Smaller collar

2nd model: Piping around the collar with buttons and button holes to close it all the way up.

3rd model: No piping around the collar but same as 2nd model except collar shape.
Some added piping anyway.

Also you should buy the Panzer Feldjacke books by Scott Pritchett as everything is explained there.

Great summary by Mads. There are some other differences like more rounded vs. more pointed collars and the alignment of the collar tabs when sewn to the collar, etc.

I recommend the two volumes by Edwards and Pruett.

And don't forget some 2nd pattern black wraps also did not have collar piping after 1939.

The "straight" or vertical closure on the front of the wraps were for SS cut wraps and had no seam down the centre of the rear panel as was made with one piece of material. And usually had rounded collar ends

Heer or Army wraps had a angled front closure and a seam down the centre of the rear panel as made with 2 pieces of cloth. The collar did have pink piping in wool and sometimes in rayon mostly seen on 1st and 2nd pattern tunics, not to say that 3rd and even 4th patterns did not have the piping as soldiers would embelish the tunic to make them look like early models hence giving the soldier the "oldsweat" image as a veteran.
