M42 Wehrmacht jacket - holes?

Do you have an idea what could have caused these ( 4 - 5 ) holes?
Patch or shield?
What do you think?

Should I add the original one...or it’s better to leave it...?

It would depend if you have an original Narvik shield without any pins, you would then need to make sure the holes matched to the tunic...would just leave it or sew on a shield with wool backing that would then cover the holes....but this said the distance between the rank chevron and shield is a bit narrow, I would expect the shield to be higher up on the arm.

looking at the pictures again close up with a glass it seems the shield could either be a Krim or Kuban as you can just make out the shadow at the top of where the eale wings are...the hole near the top of the chevron could just be a small moth hole
