    Paymaster Boards

    Hi Guys,
I have two paymaster boards, one with black piping and one without. What would the black piping indicate, and would it have had the same device? It has enough holes in it to have been a Hauptmann as well.

    Regards
    Kevin

There were 15 different colors used to indicate nebenfarbe at various points in time, 3 of which were folded into the "Wieß" white career stream around 1936.

All Officials wore the "HV" device irregardless of nebenfarbe color.

White had trades like Clothing Depots (Heeresbekliedungsämter), Food Supply Officials (Heeresverpflegungsbeamte), Barracks Administration (Heeresunterkunftsverwaltung) along with Non-technical Administrative Service Nichttechnischer Heeresveraltungsdienst) which was renamed the "Paymaster Branch" by order HV 37 No. 869, coincidently the term "Standard" was abloished by order HV 38B No. 186. Thjere were other careers as well. The white nebenfarbe was the only nebenfarbe not to have the High Grade Career (Höherer Dienst)

Black had trades like Teachers at Professional Schools (Heeresfachschuledienst), Fortress Engineer Service (Festungpionierwessen), Technical Engineering Service (Pionieretechnischer Dienst) along with approximately 21 other technial themed services.......

    Hope this helps some

    Cheers

Larry, thanks for the explanation. Obviously "Admin" is a study in itself.

The top ones are very interesting in that I think it is a field made pair for wear day to day etc. They had problems finding the correct branch insignia etc and often sets are found with tailor made insignia and sort of crude. The black board piping appears to be made from hat soutache material.
