Whistle with Lanyard ? For review.

Hello, is this lanyard a good one ? I have seen whistle like this sold as WH or HJ ? Is this possible ? I only know the bakelite tubular model.
    Thank you for your help.

It appears to be a whistle used for for sport events. Not sure how old.

I'm more familiar with the wooden or bakelite varieties used by the German Army

A few thoughts on the whistle:

Bottom line.... May well be WWII German, but may also be difficult, if not impossible to prove.

The method of attachment to the cord is different from others I have seen. Based on my somewhat limited experience, the cord is usually looped directly through the eye on the whistle.

The whistle posted looks to be from the WWII era or before. SS / RZM marked whistles of this basic configuration exist and are considered original by most collectors. Mine came from The Ruptured Duck.

On the other hand, I have another whistle similar to the one posted that is marked "Made in Germany" and "Police Special" which means it was made in Germany for expert to an English speaking country. I obtained that whistle as an indirect vet purchase in a box of both WWII US Army items and German war souvenirs. There was noting in the box indicating he was a policeman or athletic coach, so I assume it was one of his war souvenirs, but I cannot prove it.
