Panzer skull and tabs original? PASS BLACK LIGHT test?

    Hi guys,

What is your opinion on these skulls and tabs. Original or repo?
If they are indeed fake, why do they pass the black light test and is this enough to determine authenticity?
Also the fabric used here seems of good quality.
    Any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks

Thought so, from what I’ve read on this forum the black light test isn’t confirmation of its authenticity either. Seen some period pieces glow and some repos that don’t too!
          Thank you

sorry but not commenting on your pieces,,,,, but the test your relying on..
            - ,the test really just should be for whites. Modern whites have brighteners. When exposed to the light it glows. Old stuff doesn't...

You should have a 'standard'. Like a new white cotton or rayon shirt for your comparisons. And your UV should be a strong one..

Some of the fake silver braiding will have the new white in it and it will glow.
            * I think it best you do a search here and you'll find some pretty detailed use of 'black light test'.. And remember its not the be all end all but just one tool that can help you.

In general..even though the tech was there during WW2 for the use of brighteners it just wasn't used much, if at all. AND, many counterfitters can get white material that doesn't glow,,,thats why the test shouldn't be the as mentioned 'be all end all'.

I do not own these items and diddnt test them myself, I was just curious as to why the seller was using the black light test as ‘proof’ of authenticity when advertising them.
              Thank you for the information.

Because he didn't know what he was doing.

Gaspare is spot-on in his explanation about the test.

As the others have said - steer clear, they're junk.

The Black light test is only a tool , not a Certification .
And the original pink piping is reacting Under black light !
The collar patches are as said easy repros .

                    Thanks guys.
Seller said the tab on the left is a known repo and so glowed during the test as opposed to the the original skull tab on the right which did not.
This was his ‘proof of authenticity’ so to speak...but I’m glad everyone has cleared that up.
                    FAKE
