    shoulder boards

    Hi,

Has anyone seen stickers like this on the back of any shoulder boards?
Thought this was very unusual. Comments!?

    Thanks

Looks like something put on there fairly recently.

        .

Thanks for the input. I wasn't sure about this circular tag. It has a sticky backing and appears to be constructed of paper and almost a "foil like" toping where the number is.

          Tony,

Yes, they are foil labels. (I know this because this is a product that my company offers). It is interesting though that the prong of the pip sits over the label?? My guess is that somewhere in the last 60 years some dealer or collector placed the labels on the boards.

Worse case scenerio....someone placed the labels on the boards then someone came along and "installed" the pips into the boards thus covering part of the label.

Personally, I wouldnt think a decal would adhere to fabric for 60+ years but then again maybe you have proof that it is possible.

            .

I'm curious if they even made these foil stickers back then?
I don't have any proof that they stick on for that long either.
It's entirely possible the last two pips were added after the stickers was applied.

The sticker could have just been slipped under the prong. The boards once had other devices on them anyway, in between the rank pips.

                Sarge,

What's your opinion on the foil labels?

                Thanks

Looks to me like the stickers were probably placed there by a collector trying to track his collection. I've received a lot of straps/boards from dealers and other collectors with this stuff on the back.

Post-war. All the original stickers I've seen were paper with hand-written prices. Some were glue-on and some had the little metal clips. All were square / rectangular.
