      Thank You

      Gentlemen,

Thank you very much for the positive comments on my panzer items.
I appreciate the information you provided. I see what you mean with the grey material on the reverse of the panzer tab and that it was probably originally for an assault gun wrap, then converted when the soldier moved to a tank, correct? Very interesting. I had not noticed that. I have read it was farily common to move from assault guns to tanks - i.e. Michael Wittman, Heinz von Westernhagen, etc.

Schulterklappen - thank you for the link to your great pz grouping from Rudi Heimbeger and the fact that his two shoulder boards do not match - picture 694 clearly shows different keyhole styles.

Relic Jager - thanks for the interesting photo of your P-38 holster, with a pz skull applied by a vet.

Here is a picture of my latest addition to the little panzer display - a breast eagle removed from a wrapper, from forum member RobertE.

      Thanks,

      Paul

The collar tab is very intersting and neat. It looks like it has red piping instead of pink, could just be the photo.

            Tab Piping Color

            Hello,

Relic Jager and OSS, I believe you gentlemen are correct - when I compare the tab piping color to the boards color, the tab appears to be red. So, that would go along with the tab originally being for an assault gun wrapper (grey material and red piping) and then the tanker moved to a regular panzer and put the black over the face of the tab. This group of pz material also includes a single shoulder board (in earlier photo), which people pointed out is most likely for an assault gun wrapper - it even has the small hole in the center where a "P" would have been.

Here are a couple of pictures of the tab/board color comparison.

            Your thoughts?

            Thanks,

            Paul

There can be subtle (or even dramatic) contrasts in dye lots within Waffenfarbe across the spectrum. To me, these look to be variations of rose pink. That doesn't make the tab any less interesting imo.

                Tab

                OSS,

Thank you for the information regarding variations in the pink piping color. When I took a picture of the tab and board in the direct sunlight the difference somewhat fades away.

                Thanks,

                Paul
