        Hello,

I personally do not care for the JAeger patch. The base material was never a facing color of the Heer. The embroidery is weak also. The Gebirgsjaeger patch is held in contention in the collecting community being on field grey. Some say they are fake , some say that they are very late issue.

          no

There were Jaeger and Gebirgsjaeger oval insignia in the 1960's with this lighter green base cloth which were considered reproductions back then and I agree with what Fred has stated as well as the questionable Edelweiss on feldgrau cloth.

G.J. PATCH is west german and the jager possibly as well.

Incorrect! Neither of these are West German or Bunderwehr patterns. Do you have a reference backing that up? I definitely would like to see it.

I second that. No BW patch, nor DDR.

BW NEVER used this pattern insignia. That is just nonsense.
Both patches are fine WW2 originals as far as I am concerned...
The GJ field gray one is just a later variation and I have seen stacks of these tied together in unissued war time left over condition and good as far as I know...
The jaeger patch back ground color green (which appears off color) is just an odd maker variation.
It is like the Heer Gunlayer patch that also appears on a much lighter green color green wool...
(or is that also considered a 1960's fake??? Never heard that...)

                      Hello Nick,

I don't care for the Gunlayer either. I have some specialty patches made on this stuff too that I don't care for.

Based on the quality and how long these have been
                        around (3/4 decades)
                        I have a good feeling...

can you post photos of these in use by the bundeswehr as i dont believe it they were ever used postwar and the post war pattern is very diferent .I think that they are original but not great quality

                            Hello,

The quality of material and the quality of the embroidery on the jaeger patch are sub par. The light green, I call it Testor's Leaf Green, color was never a facing color of the Heer. Specialty patches, collar tabs, sleeve rank, Signal blitzes and qualification patches are all made on a specific facing color for a specific time frame. There is no such color or time frame for this color green.

Patch King made specialty patches and afrikakorps armbands on this quality and color wool/felt. Being here for 3/4 decades means nothing either. These patches have been here for almost 5 decades and they are still a blight on the collecting community: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...t=big+blue+tub
