    Shoulder straps 'wachtregiment'

    hi guys,

would like to show these straps.
does the 'W' on the off. straps stand for Wachtregiment?
in this case maybe Wachtregiment Berlin?

    thanks

The Latin W is for the Wachtruppe Wien.

The Berlin Guard Battalion used the Gothic W as shown here.

These are actually much rarer than those from the unit in Berlin.

          Hello,

the "W" on your boards is a German WW1 pattern. Collectors and dealer using them to create "interesting" boards. Original Wachbataillon Wien cyphers are way different.

          Best regards,
          Andreas

                Hello Stive,

very nice straps, but your officer wears a textbook SS "Westland" device and not the Army pattern for the Wachbataillon Wien.

                Best regards,
                Andreas

The guy doenst look really ss with the Wehrmacht eagle on his chest.....

Looking at the straps which i posted it doenst look they are apllied post war. They are evenly worn and “weared” into the straps...

This are Wien straps (a 'W' with one 'thin' leg). Ascot, the 'W's on your straps seem period attached to me although a bit sloppy applied (off centre). But for me authentic straps. But for which unit is hard to say...
