Thanks for posting, this is a very good video and worth a watch.
You Tube is proving to be a valuable resource for this sort of thing, and will quite possibly be even better as time goes by and more 'lost' videos are uploaded. I'm old enough to remember the days when it was only possible to view this kind of material after ordering VHS tape recordings from mailing lists etc, it's all too easy (and free) now!
I was slightly surprised to see how apparently unaffected some of the towns shown were by war damage etc, almost as if some (civilian) locals were unaffected by the war. Infrastructure seemed to be functioning well, despite the fire at the (large) rail station. Note the German firemen still wearing their Third Reich uniforms with fully functioning fire truck etc.
It was interesting to see that some German POW's were wearing their full insignia still (perhaps minus awards, possibly placed in their pockets for safe-keeping?), whereas other POW's appeared to be wearing fully stripped uniforms (see marching column at the end and elsewhere). Perhaps this was at the whim of the local Allied commanding officer?
At 3'03" a German POW can be seen wearing a DAK/ tropical cap (with insignia). Also at 11'30" is the US Major wearing captured German goggles? Some nice Panzer wrappers too, skulls removed, perhaps as the skulls looked a little "SS" or sinister, and they didn't want any misunderstandings to occur?
