Which piping on a waffenrock is correct for the 8th Panzer Reconnaissance Regiment? Yellow or pink?

Is there a period of time when this unit switched from one color piping to another?

In 1938, the 3rd Light Division was formed, consisting of the 67th Panzer Battalion, and the 8th and 9th Mechanized Cavalry Regiments as well as the 8th Reconnaissance Regiment.<SUP> </SUP>The 3rd Light Division was sent to participate in the 1939 Invasion of Poland, after which it was converted to the 8th Panzer Division in the winter of 1939.

I might be wrong on this and perhaps someone more knowledgeable can chime in, but it appears both yellow and pink piping on these waffenrocks for the 8th Panzer Reconnaissance Regiment could be correct.

Since the 3rd Light Division was heavy with cavalry regiments to include the 8th Reconnaissance Regiment, I believe the yellow piping is correct. Once the 3rd Light Division converted to the 8th Panzer Regiment, the piping for 8th reconnaissance changed to pink.

In the book "Field Uniforms of German Army Panzer Forces in WW 2" by Michael Pruett and Robert Edwards (both WAF members) , for the 3. leichte Division, Aufklaerungs 8, it is listed as golden yellow from 1938-1939. Then for Panzer-Aufklaerungs 8, it is listed as golden yellow from 1938-1939. You also have an Aufklaerungs Abteilung 8 form the 5. Panzer Divison. They are listed as wearing rose pink from 1938-1943.

IMHO, I can see both colors of Waffenfarbe having been worn (depending on time, situation and other variables). As an example, I offer this. Panzer Aufklaerungs Abteilung 14 is listed as wearing golden yellow 1943-1945. I have a small grouping, including shoulder boards, from an officer of that unit. The boards are pink piped. From what Mike Pruett told me it was possible that he was issued that before being sent to the front and the unit wore golden yellow at the front.

Another element to consider, there would have been an Aufklaerungs Abteilung 8 for the 8. Infanterie Division (later Jaeger).
