    DAK Hauptmann's tunic for review

    Hi

I bought this DAK tunic in London in about 1980.
I believe it's an original DAK Haputmann's tunic, but I don't know much more about it.

    opinions and comments please.

    thanks

I believe it began life as a Kriegsmarine (Summer) issue tunic. When it had the Heer eagle and shoulder boards added is the question.

      Thanks...

      Hi OSS

thanks for that. What is the actual model of tunic and what sort of insignia ought it to have? The shoulder boards appear to be the right type, i.e. they slot into pre-cut holes. I did wonder about the lack of litzen and the breast eagle appearing to be an OR's

      thanks

The shoulder boards are the ones normally found in Parade Dress and not Field Uniforms. The eagle looks incorrectly placed and crudely sewn on a KM Tropical Jacket.

Appears totally made up with no sign of period wear. Recommend avoiding this one if you have not acquired it.

Indeed a KM uniform based on the angled pocket corners to name 1 clear indicator (and humped up).
Having the cuff title mounted on the cuff is actually not appropriate, that is the W-SS way.
It should be above the French cuff...another clue its been created like this. Nice uniform and components but a mis-match
and eagle mounted off center even!!

Agree an un-issued KM jacket that someone again tried to turn into a DAK jacket which it is not. AKCT is a good one & the boards look like for dress tunic or maybe LW to me.
Another souped-up jacket postwar, typical of most DAK officers tunics these days.

I hate to be a stitch-Nazi, but that eagle is way off center, and I really doubt that parade boards would have ben worn on a tunic like this.
