Hi Guys

I'm sure this one is genuine, I just wanted to establish which pattern it is- looks 1st pattern from the shape of the eagle's head but looks to be cotton/ rayon as opposed to be all cotton?

Any thoughts much appreciated

Hello Patrick,

the "Bevo" German tropical breast eagle went through 4 stages;

1/ Cotton blend with a reasonable amount of cotton giving more of an appealing 3-dimension look because of the thicker thread

2/ A blend with a little cotton usually recycled cotton

3/ Rayon thread or Rayon blends

4/ Artificial Silk, early synthetic or blend there of

The shade of colour can range from a greyish blue to other median hues of blue. However, the examples with a lot Artificial Silk or early synthetic content tend to be a powder blue or Pastel blue in colour.

I am having a look at my monitor and trying to decide if your one is a Rayon blend or an artificial silk blend ? It certainly does not appear to be an early 1940-41 type but is definitely original. I do not think it is a cotton blend because the thread it is woven from appears to be a thinner type showing gaps,
