Great piece and history. So Fahnenjunker in 1937 and many promotions after that for this officer,
who apparently kept using his Waffenrock way after it's retirement, hence the Major rank appearing on it...
(rank obtained in 1944). It did happen I guess...General Staff officer duties...
The DKG (GCG) loops are on it! Interesting!

Yes, he upgraded this tunic throughout the war to include loops for a DGIK on the right side of the blouse.

If you go to the link above, Kurt, who posted the link, explains how Scheidemann's luck allowed him to escaped from Stalingrad.

Doesn't get any better than that! Now to find a image of him wearing this pre war uniform in 1944-1945 time span!
