Hello, I shall like having your opinion on this jacket, the attributes rose of origin?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Looks like an original m40 tunic which has been war time reissued with late insignia added to the collar? A real salty dog! Steve

Salty indeed, but still looking good.
Seems like this one may have spent too much time near a window, though....

This tunic may have been repaired with insignia reapplied for reissue to Osttruppen, even in it's threadbare condition.

Yes, reconditioned and possibly resized for reissue. Front clothing.

IMO - original tunic with original insignia reapplied after the war.

You can clearly see evidence of the backed collar tabs having been on there for a long time as the wear on the collar goes around the dark rectangle surrounding the tabs we see now. If the mouse grey tabs were on there during the war I believe the wear would have extended up to their edges. Also, with how thread bare this tunic is I'd expect to see a fair amount of wear to the eagle.

Looks like a typical restoration job (albeit a pretty good one though).

I can't blame you for concluding this tunic is the typical restored tunic one usually encounters however I still lean towards it being wartime reconditioned. You will notice the (wearer's) right sleeve has been elaborately repaired with no attempt to conceal the fact (it has a horizontal seam near the elbow); this suggests more work was done than simply resewing insignia. The tunics that were reconditioned were sometimes quite worn and showed evidence of their original factory insignia. Most that I have seen have later insignia while I would expect to see a postwar restoration going for a M-36 look. You will occasionally find early overseas caps reconditioned with late insignia as well. These were not generally issued to front line troops but rather Eastern volunteers. HiWis or rear echelon.

I understand what you're saying and guess we'll agree to disagree. I'm just having a hard time believing if they were reconditioning a "thread bare" tunic for issue to foreigners etc. that that type of eagle would be meticulously sewn on, rather than just being machined on right through the liner. That's one, of a couple of things that make me think this may be a post-war restoration. For them to swap the insignia during the war for a reissue it must have been absolutely thrashed. Regardless, I think it would make an excellent representative set-up of a troop circa 1943.

                    Again, just my opinion.

As already stated - and often seen, wartime reworked - nice original. A few years ago at SoS I attempted to dissuade a collector from stripping a similar reissue as he assumed garment had the 'wrong' insignia.
