Lightweight Oberfeldwebel Tunic 77.I.R. - opinions?

I think this tunic came out of the UK in the mid-80's, ordered through the post from NZ. It's 42-dated, marked to Lago F?, FM. The eagle has been crudely hand-stitched and it's named to Müller. Who knows when the epaulettes were applied, as there is no corresponding NCO tress on the collar - which is not unknown.

I've always liked it, but it's always best to test these assumptions! In particular, is the base tunic wartime?

Agree with Jim, base tunic good , suspect all insignia replaced. Also boards are early prewar, while tunic is in m42 style. You also might need close ups of the collartabs?J

Thanks Jacques. Completely agree that the eagle was post-war applied and there is no way of confirming when the epaulettes were added - even though you will occasionally see the old style on mid- to late-war tunics. Here are a couple of shots of the collartabs.

I had a first model of this style of tunic,which I picked up over two decades ago. German collectors called it a Balkan tunic. It appears to be constructed like a standard tropical tunic and the material is similar.

I think I've seen one other for sale on the forum many years ago. George Petersen certainly liked it. I finally traded mine for something else just as uncommon. Regards jim

Thanks all. Yes - it was the unusual style of the tunic, and size stamps, that had recently made me start questioning the origin of this tunic. Good to hear that the basic construction is almost certainly wartime.
