    Heer Tropical Shoulder Board Question

Is this tropical shoulder board with green piping for the greatcoat? It is made of wool. What does the green piping represent: mountain troops or jaeger troops?

    Thank you,
    Bob Hritz

      Hello Bob,

It is definitely a strap for the tropical overcoat. The colour of the piping on early pieces such as this is believed to be Rifle Regiment.

That shade of green for rifle regiment is considered the most desirable of all the greens. The strap is early, 1940 or 1941 because of the shade of green and wool piping. This is the type of strap that a soldier in Schutzen Regiment 200 (MG Abt 2 & MG Abt 8) would have been wearing on their tropical greatcoats when they arrived in Afrika in early 1941,

Very nice strap Bob and I agree with what has been said by the other members. I have 2 DAK EM straps that have the same color piping that I picked up in South Africa.

                Hi Bob

Really nice strap. Agree with everyone's comments. Can only add that some members the 104th Rifle Regt wore this same shade upon arrival in Afrika.
