Hello NY Digger;

IMO, this is a reproduction.
I've seen other specialty patches of this type,
they're close, but no cigar.
FYI, the field gray version of this patch is rather common.
I don't think I've ever seen a dark green version.

I do not like it either, there is a "w" patch made in a similar way that is not "correct". Little too thin and the backing is odd.
