Hello, I am excited to share my two latest pieces of General's insignia. The printed example is especially rare. Regards, John

Picked up another this month and thought I'd share as it's an interesting example.
I've owned dozens of the embroidered examples over the years, but never one with a cloth backing. What's interesting is the rank bar is sewn through the backing, which means the maker put the backing on before finishing with a rank bar. Makes me wonder whether the maker had generic ones made up with just the oakleaves and then would make one to order for the customer depending on their rank?

John

Correct !
I've had and still have some of them and they were all made like this , the bar being sewn after assembly .

Very interesting. Please feel free to photos in this thread. I would love to see some other examples with backing. I've only ever observed two application styles for the rank bars 1) A one piece block for the 2 and 3 bars machine sewn on 2) Each rank bar individually machine sewn on.
Best,
John
