I just found another exmple which I think is a genuine very late war 4th pattern with thin embroidery.

Looks fine to me, I have seen this type of look on Afrika cuffs that were worn and possibly wet at some point. Hard to tell why it looks sloppy but none the less a nice 4th pattern
