Medical single shoulder board.

Hello,

I have just bought this nice NCO removed medical shoulder board (with 42 embroidery) but I do not find informations in the lexikon about the unit.

That is a good question - I cannot find a single trace of any san.abt 42...!!.. will try again tomorrow..

A NCO tunic from the same san abt, but there seems to be confusion about which unit it was attached to.

But interesting that in the second thread it is a Gebirgsjäger NCO, so maybe after all a mix up of units..?..

The board is for Gebirgs-Sanitäts-Abteilung 42 which was attached to the 2nd GD. The unit is not in Lexicon or the Tessin volumes, it is only mentioned in a couple other books published in German- Kaltenegger and then the unit history by General Krautler for 2 GD.

I have just noticed a small mistake: Gebirgs-Panzerabwehr-Abteilung 48 is for 3.Gebirgs-Division (Gebirgs-Panzerabwehr-Abteilung 47 is for 2.Gebirgs-Division).

It is the officers list for the 2nd GD not XVIII. Armeekorps which is implied the way it was cut and pasted incomplete.
