Are these ok? I thought they weren't at first but they look close to a pair marked sold at $350 on a dealer website.

Panzer Grenadier Regiment 5
As best I can tell from the photos, they look to be original boards that were not issued and have storage wear. The unit would be Panzer Grenadier Regiment 5 of the 12.

Humm...
Top "Russia Braid" appears to be metallic silver and the slip on configuration
are usually indicative of Luftwaffe (or Schutzpolizei).
The "5" is in silver, rather than gold, as you'd expect for an officer rank
(although certainly not an ironclad rule).
I agree with Glen about them being original, but I doubt that they are Heer.
$350 on a dealer's site? No serious shoulder board collector would consider them
at that price!!

I am pretty sure these were silver. IMO the original finish is visible on the top part of the five to the left and the bottom of the 5 to the right. Just having silver numbers is not a big deal but with all the concerns mentioned, I am not real sure I would even be paying 100 USD for these unless they were part of a solid grouping etc.

The chaotic supply situation of the Wehrmacht always brought about uniform wear regulation exceptions as are documented in several instances. (RKT Herbert Dueppenbecker's wearing GJ Kragenspiegel as a Pz. Gr. officer comes to mind) Recently, I purchased a small lot of insignia for a Pz. Gren. Leutnant. It came in a small cigar box and I assume he had put it in there post war. Among the items, a sew-in pair of Leutnant boards with subdued Russia braid, Offizier Kragenspiegel, sleeve rank for a camo uniform, and a pair of slip on Lt boards with bright shiny Russia braid. If you saw them by themselves you would swear they were Luftwaffe. Could someone have put this lot together to sell...it is possible; but, they went to a lot of effort for not much gain.
Perhaps this type officer's board was available for the leather greatcoat?
