Help with Afrikakorps tunic...

    Help with Afrikakorps tunic...

    Hello,
    i want to show some pics from an afrikakorps tunic.
    I am really not sure but i think it is a tinkered tunic because
    there is also a strange marking on the backside.
    It seems that the cloth from the tunic primally comes from another objekt
    like a bag or something else.
    Or is it possible that this tunic is frontmade?

            This isn't an Afrikakorps tunic. Most likely Southern Front or lightweight for summer.
            This type of tunic was not designed for wear in North Africa.

              I see Mark beat me to the punch.
              Is not an Afrikakorps tunic, they wore the standard 1st pattern tropical tunic. Its a Sud Front tunic made from what i believe is Italian Olona material, others will correct me if i'm wrong ? These were very popular in Italy, the Balkans, Crimea etc
              There are some pretty good threads about these here on the Forum, by using the search. Looks pretty good to me but wait to hear other opinions...

                not olona material,looks like some kind of russian fabric according to the stamp IMO

                  Not Olona material. Lightweight tunic made from russian Zelt. Highly dubt that this tunic saw Africa or even Italy.
                  Mostly russian front, not only on southern sector, popular also in central sector , better in summer months than wool.

                    Very interesting,

                    The tunic which started this thread could have been made for a number of fronts. However, they definitely made tropical tunics out of this type of "Cotton-Duck" material. Have a look at this thread to see what I mean;

                    The tropical billed M40 cap made by "Robert Lubstein" in the above thread dated 1941, would have to have been a priority supply for Afrika. Unless of course the maker used a predated liner that was sitting in the bin not yet used in 1942 ???

                    Well, well, well, captured, Russian Zelt material ? or may be confiscated unused bolt of Russian cloth ? or tunic made in a Third Reich occupied part of Russia ?

                    Either way, those who own caps and tunics made from this type of water resistant Cotton-Duck will find this interesting,

                        First i want to thank all members for helping
                        So i was wrong with Afrika but according to the other opinions
                        the tunic really could be frontmade!?
                        Tim there are no other stamps, marking or anything else!

                        I could buy this tunic but it is really hard for me to find a price for a tunic like this with russian cloth.
