    300 Assault Gun Bde?

I was at our local militaria show in Schertz yesterday and picked up this portrait photo. It looked like the slide said 300 on it and I remember having a single slide with a 300 on it. As it turns out I was correct. The waffenfarbe looks red so I checked out artillery units designated by 300. The only match I found was the 300th Assault Gun Brigade, Abt etc. Does anyone else know of another artillery unit that used the number 300? Here are a few pictures. WR Jim

Pretty cool photo! What is strange is the color of the piping on the shoulder straps as compaired to the color of the 300 slide..... It almost looks like the color of the shoulder strap is lighter than the red of the 300... Possibly pink or white? Steve

I am confident that your slide and the soldier in the photo are from Stug. Brigade 300. While there are several obscure Art. units numbered 300, I have seen this type of embroidery on portraits of Stug. personnel (in wrappers).

Great slide! I'd add that one to my collection any day. Matt

Thanks to everyone for the assistance and comments. Derkas pictures leave little doubt that the slide is for the 300th Assault Gun. WR Jim

                      Excellent research here. Top notch.
And a cool portrait too, I might add.

                          There was also this unit:
                          "Stellungs-Werfer-Brigade 300" (established in 1944)

but I assume they probably wore Nebelwerfer wine-red and not artillery bright red....
