Dan, I am positive that this is the same set that was posted here last year or so. A member with good intentions posted that his friend had this for sale - there were never any pics on the Forum - just the contact information for a guy in Nevada, I believe. I would be very careful with this set. Get a price - if he says ten grand...

The medal bar looks a little shoddy and where are the WWI medals? This guy is pretty old and he didn't join the army and receive a promotion to LtCol right away...

Since this guy was a knight's cross holder, does anyone recognize who he is? Any help will be greatly appreciated. They claim his name is Kunsch. I can only find an Erwin Kunsch, but he was only a captain.

Maybe he was awarded the KC as a Captain and was later promoted to a Lt. Col. like is seen in the summer tunic and/or the one you are considering??

It would be nice to closely examine that ribbon bar in the summer tunic photo under a magnifying lens.

Sorry, I am still skeptical, and I am one of the more gullible members of this forum... I could be wrong, but it looks like the 'rock in the photo has the correct sewn-in boards. Could we get a close-up?

Not the same tunic. Check out the breast eagle. On the tunic for sale, the eagle lines up directly across from a button. In the family photo, the eagle lines up between two buttons.

I don’t think you can accurately gauge where things lay on a tunic when comparing from a photo, while the tunic is being worn, and when it is on a hanger. The one thing that caught my eye, they may be playing tricks on me, is in the photo of the tunic “now”, there appears to be a visible line on the left sleeve above the cuff as if there was a cuff-title at one time. In the period photo of this, supposed, same uniform, you can see what looks a cuff-title as well. It would be nice to have both the photos and tunic in hand.

I noticed the same thing Kurt did. Although what James says has a lot of validity in general, in this case, both photos were taken pretty much straight on. Given the close proximity of the end of the eagle's wing to the buttons and the amount of difference in horizontal spacing, it is clear to me that either the tunics are not the same ones, or else it was replaced or moved. (Keep in mind that after the war tunics were de-Nazified by the families - I have one that came straight out of Germany that had the original eagle removed and just put in the pocket.)

While there are plausible explanations for the eagle, I have never (I know - never say 'never') seen a Waffenrock with slip-on boards. I'd sure like to have that tunic in hand for about half an hour......

Not sure about the oakleaves but it is hard to tell in the family photo because it looks like he has the top button open. All I could come up with in my search (online) was KC recipient.

I'm not seeing remnants of a cufftitle in any of the photos.
