as far as I know, pz.rgt.1 didn't see action in "tropical" or mediterranean areas. so, this tunic appears to be an strange one. at first sight seems a good one but would like to read about other opinions ...

1. Panzer Division

The 1. Panzer Division was sent to Greece/Balkans in 1943 as the Germans waited the next move, by the Allies, after the defeat in North Africa.

Very nice light weight tunic of an interesting unit
Based on the high rank maybe you can narrow down the owner? (WW1 vet)
Such tunics could have been used in any theatre during the summer months,
Sudfront, Russia etc...not limited to Mediterranean...(Italy Southern France)

There are plenty of photographs showing members of the 1 Panzer Division wearing tropical uniforms, from standard garments to private purchase and local variants.

Now we need to narrow to who was the Panzer Regiment commander or one of its Abteilungs, I think no more than two o three officers of such rank serving at the same time on a regiment.

Also take in mind that some soldiers and officers from Panzergrenadier 1 could still be wearing pink as their Waffenfarbe.
