tropical tunic 4 pattern Südfront + trousers

    Hi mates
here is my tropical 4 pattern tunic and its trousers made in Italian cloth "tessuto Olona".
These tropical items are not DAK but are typical of "Südfront" like Italy.
I want to show you this complet, that has been found in Italy and belonged to an artillery unteroffizier, for its charm.

Your opinion about the two items are, as usual, strongly desired.

    Ciao

Looks like a very nice tunic and pants set. I always like this material. I used to have an officer hat made with this material.

As a New Zealander, I've always been interested in the Italian theatre of the war. Great set - do you have any more history to these items?

        Thanks,
        Michael

Like it. The late eagle might not be to everyone's taste but the main thing is it's 100% original.
Excellent set of trousers to match.

I have the same construction trousers in green olona fabric, they came together with the same colour and fabric made and 44 dated LW tunic with late war subdued eagle on it...both mint with paper tags.
I like these late war tropical uniforms

                  Hi mates
                  thanks for you comments...

Yes Mark the late eagle might not be to everyone's taste but as every collector of historic pieces knows, because this is the right eagle of that period of war, the historian has to like this eagle.

Yes Michael I have many of them... I collected for 40 years German, Italian and allied militaria. now I have 65 mannequins, from early war to end war.
They have been grouped according to the most important battles of the war, and the Italy campaign, for the presence of almost the totality of the armies involved in the war, is my favorite.

If you want to see part of my collection you can see here.

                    Hi Marco

Thanks for giving your tunic its own thread that is deserves. Just outstanding untouched late war NCO example with straps, tresse and that poor bird which is quite correct for the time

Please do take the time to show your incredible collection. Your research is an asset to this Forum & the DAK Forum too

Thanks Tim for your appreciation, I have tried in all these years to realize my time machine. In that place I can find the atmosphere of those years, full of suffering but also acts of extreme heroism and glory.
Please I need the help of all the members of this authoritative forum to make my research more real and truthful. My fake hunting activity is steady and I should like your help in the identification of the fakes that inevitably are in the collections.

Tim I thought long about your classification of tropical jackets and for me is not correct to describe Südfront tunics as the 4th pattern of the tropical jacket.
Tropical jacket has two characteristic elements: open neck and breast eagle partially over the breast pocket.

Südfront tunics don't have these elements, I think that is more correct to describe them not like tropical but continental tunics. They are M43 tunics made in Italian tropical cloth "Olona".
                      What do you think about?
                      Ciao

                        Marco

Very well said my friend. Your collection is like taking a trip in a time machine. Many aspects of the war. Sadly the road to glory is lined in red.....

Until recently have referred to this type of tunic as Sud Front, not tropical so agree.
Eagle type/placement & neck hook, Olona etc.

Many good members here will help you when you have time to post your extensive collection in detail.

                        with appreciation
                        Tim

                            Hi guys
unfortunately the images are gone in this discussion.
I think I'll do something good by reposting the pics of this nice and untouched "Südfront" suit.
