    WH Panzer skulls original?

Hi, I've got a bunch of these skulls recently. Very light and thin aluminum, die struck.

    Are they original?

    Thanks for comments!

Panzer tab skulls have always been a subject of debate.
There's a detailed database here on WAF that you should find and read.

I don't agree with all the variations that others have deemed "original",
but that is my opinion (but based on many years of collecting and direct
              veteran purchases in the '60s & '70s).
An odd feature on these skulls is that they're made of ALUMINUM.
Aluminum skulls are usually indicative of Early manufacture
(like shoulder board pips, numbers, and cyphers; cap insignia)
ZINC skulls are Late manufacture (like those shown by Ramjet).
Those are what I'd expect to find.

As mentioned, original vs. repro tab skull opinions vary.

Neither do I Chris; but one must collect on the basis of what they feel 'comfortable' with.

This variant existed as pre and early war version in aluminium and as late war version in zinc, as far as I know.

I started the skull database. I tried to clean it up but was reprimanded by several members regarding their posts and additions. So the database has several dubious and fake skulls in it, but not worth the aggrevation and further pm attacks for trying to clean it up.

Both versions of this skull type wouldn't cause any problems in Jerrys database.

You find it also in Scott Pritchett's "Panzer Feldjacke" books and also for example on the Swiss website "Treasures of the Panzertruppe".

Early aluminium version (here as Number 5):

Late zinc version (here as Number 2):

                      http://www.panzertruppe.ch/late-versions

You have to register to look at the pics, but the site is worth the effort.
