That is a cracking tunic, nice to see a vet, they are scarce. J

It's clear that veterinarians were predominantly posted in units that were non mechanized, meaning horse drawn (definitely artillery components) and mounted (cavalry) and Mountain units (donkey use)... and no doubt transportation/supply related units... Many "gulasch-kanone" field kitchens were also horsedrawn.
And many units also obtained Russian panje wagons and horses to increase their mobility and augmenting their motorpool, often horses could go where no vehicle could pass...
so these vets had plenty of work, but still a rare branch!
