    Shoulder board question

How do you tell the difference between a Cavalry Lieutenant board and a Luftwaffe Flight board?

    #2
The only way I can tell is if the board has matte braiding it is Heer. If it is a parade board (ie, shiny), I am not sure there's a real difference.

The reason I ask is that I have seen both (shinny and matte) advertised for sale as one or the other. How would they know?

          1) parade dress - bright silver top braid:
** Heer would have unit numbers / cyphers on them, and are usually sew in.
** Luftwaffe would have cyphers and sometimes unit numbers, and also usually
sew in, but can be slip on as well for Fleigerbluse & overcoat.
          2) field service (matte finish top braid
** Heer use would be either sew in or slip on, sometimes with unit # or cypher
** Luftwaffe use would be either sew in or slip on, sometimes with unit # or
cypher. Usually later war, especially field divisions.
Usage far less than Heer; Luftwaffe usually wore the bright silver braid, even in
          the field.

Heer Cavalry/Recon used the same waffenfarbe as Luftwaffe Flieger/Fallschirmjaeger.
