I had paid up my membership but updated my email and that made me unable to post images. The Mods had to update the system. This is medium career for OKH/OKW official.

This is an example of a typical HV tab with carmine piping.

I was asked to contribute what little I know to this conversation, however I am fresh off of a 2050km round trip over 3 days so I am a little frazzled.

Ron could you provide measurement on the tab, as seen in the picture the elevated and medium career tabs were of different sizes?

Something to think about...Carmesin (Crimson) consisted of the following careers:

All permanent officials of the OKW/OKH
          All Education officials
          Army Surveyors
          Army Librarians
          Army Archivists
Army officials of the War Research Institute
          Army Museum officials
          Army Meteorologists
          Army Sports Instructor officials
Record officials attached to various commands
          Army Psychiatrists<O>
          <O</O
          </O
The tab itself appears to be original and of period construction to me. People with more expertise on tabs than I are more than welcome to state their opinions.

So I would wager a guess that crimson HV tabs would not be a common as an issue item in a QM, especially in an outlying area like surveyors or a meteorological detachment.

Private purchase items - eagles, boards, tabs were commonly used, so it could be possible that a tailor used a generic tab and added crimson tape to create a set of HV tabs.

I will hunt up the regulations pertaining to the various distinctions to the different career levels.

          Cheers

            Larry,

Many thanks for that super information!

Here is a comparison shot to show that the tabs are the same size......
