"K.F. 7" - Kraftfahrabteilung 7? If so, if the tag is original, it could have been imported into a new tunic when he changed units. Agree on eagle.

Oh Goodness, yes. The eagle is definitely added later.

Pz reg. 10 ...?..and Kraftfahr abt. 7 ..? ..so he would have been transferred or what.?..

I would have expected Kraftfahr abt to have the blue waffenfarbe on the boards etc.

Anyway, Pz reg 10 was formed in wehrkreis I (North) on the 12. october 1937. And the tunic is from 1. may 37.

So he was transferred and had to change his waffenfarbe all over the tunic..?..or am I missing something here..?..

Panzerabwehr-Abteilung 10</big></big></b> Aufgestellt am 1. Oktober 1934, getarnt als Kraftfahr-Abteilung Straubing. Am 15. Oktober 1935 dann offiziell in
Panzerabwehr-Abteilung 10 umbenannt. Bei der Mobilmachung im August 1939 wurde als 3. Kompanie die 1./MGK 47 unterstellt. Am 1. April 1940 wurde die Abteilung in
Panzerjäger-Abteilung 10 umbenannt. Am 25. November 1940 erhielt die Abteilung eine neue 3. Kompanie, am 20. Mai 1943 eine neue 4. (Fla.)-Kompanie. Die Abteilung wurde nach ihrer Vernichtung in Besserabien neu aufgestellt.

That's why I said it could potentially have been imported from another tunic.

This tunic is a great example of why nothing beats a good old hands-on inspection. One thing that we didn't see in the originally posted pics were these two items:

So the original owner DID in fact begin his career in Kraftfahr Abteilung 7, which from what I can tell from my source materials was wearing Rosa Waffenfarbe in May 1937. The eagle, as we thought, has been replaced, but I am certain that the name tag is original to the tunic. It is actually sewn on much better than it looks in pictures. Zapf, being only slightly less common than Schmidt, is unfortunately too common a name to hope for more information. As a bonus, the tunic is a large size - about a US 38 L.
