AG wrap with collar tress and no piping !

    Hi guys,

I recently acquired this picture of a NCO Sturmgeschützmann.

As you can see the wrap shows the mat grey type tress on the collar but only on the corner, like some LW tunics/coats. There are also Litzen (later type) but without piping.

I would be happy if some of you could share pictures showing this kind of combination. I must admit that I barely remember seing AG wrap without collar tabs piping...

    Cheers,

    Max

A highly unusual collar arrangement with partial subdued tress. Possibly not Stug. or Pz. Abwehr but likely Pz. Gren..

The wraps were also issued to skijager. J

What makes you think it would rather be Panzergrenadier ?

The piping on the shoulder straps is quite dark, a shade lighter than the tunic green, so most likely not panzer but rather skijager or Pzgrenadier? Steve

The lack of Waffenfarbe surrounding the Litzen suggests use other than Stug. or Pz. Jag. and the sidecap is untypical of Jager (his close combat badge may be more likely worn by a Pz. Gren.). Of course there are exceptions to most rules.

Most probably a SPW mounted PzGren or mech/mot Infantry, some units had issued StuG Wraps too: note also the Close combat clasp.

I'm with the others, likely a PzGrn soldier. PzGrn units were given assault gunner wrappers later in the war as has already been pointed out. I have a set of pipped tabs for a PzGrn soldier that were meant to be worn in a wrapper. It's a great photo and one I would love to tuck away. Matt

I belive the soldiers being from pz rgt 8: picture is dated 42
