The Tunic today still with its insignia and wound badge. The arm shield was obviously reattached by holes through the shield and sewing it on after this picture was taken.

Very cool Merdock! Clearly oddities, while not the norm, were pretty common during the war. I am sure that many original items have been dismissed because they were not textbook. It probably has to be that way though, otherwise the hobby would be completely destroyed by fakes and humped up garbage.
      Looking for a 30 '06 Chauchat magazine.

Exactly and this is why these images and original period examples of unusual items need to be viewed as rare examples and not the norm. . .and certainly not as a guide to restore uniform items.

Amazing uniform Mark. I remember that one when it was first shared. Documented like that!
          Does not get any better

I agree full-heartedly Johnny! Still fun to see such oddities happening!
Estonian troops shown...and civilian style caps adopted for military use!
Mis-matched insignia, crooked insignia, obsolete insignia or branch jumping insignia...
you name it, it happened, but certainly not the norm and certainly not to be used as a reference for uniform restorations...
that is obvious and goes with out saying....Still fun to study!
