    What is this? M44? M43?

    Hello gents,

I am planning on making an order from a militaria dealer in Italy soon (just got my last paycheck I needed; being young does have its financial limits haha!) However, I came across this peculiar item. It appears to be a Tropical Luftwaffe tunic made to look like a M44. The dealer stated they found it in a warehouse with other various items from the time frame, including a Heer jacket of this same type.

Is it real? Or was the shortening done postwar?

Unfortunately I can't simply paste the pictures as the website won't let me save or copy them, so if it turns out to be real, I trust no one will snap it up.

      Thanks for the quick reply.

Do you think it is worth the price? Or would it be better to look for something else?

That heavy altered tunics are usually much less attractive imo. Better to add some money and get an uncut one.

well it is up to you. If I wanted to get my first uniform, I would go with a nice quality overcoat. They are inexpensive and you can get a nice quality one with boards for a nice entry level price. Or maybe a prewar waffenrock?

A heavily altered piece is not very desirable in most circumstances.

Agreed. A high quality mantel is a good start

Thanks for your input! I greatly appreciate it!

I think I've decided to start my uniform collection off with a nice Italian Pasubio Division grouping (as I'm greatly interested in the Regio Esercito as well) and eventually one day save enough pennies for a German uniform. The pricing on Italian uniforms is also not bad comparatively to German, so I think its a nice start for me.

I'll be sure to post pics on the forum once it is in hands!
