Just for a minor note there is an SS Wehrpass that just sold on stand that lists the fellow's cap size as 53. Perhaps the zika virus isn't new? Helmet size 56.

I had a Heer infantry NCO visor that was size 53 once - it would probably have fit a modern twelve or 13 year old.

I have an Italian made M43 cap posted now that is stamped as a 54. It doesn't fit my 13 year old son. A size 53 must have been incredibly small!

I picked up a Pickelhaube in the 1980's, dated 1915, marked "BAIV" that was a size 52. And no surprises, it was mint inside having never been issued. Now that is small

I have an unissued almost mint very small M36 Army helmet with a size 53 liner. It was sold in an auction as "child's toy nazi helmet".Comment
