    Late war Tarnjacke

    Hello all.

    I need your help for this Tarnjacke. I want to buy it by a serious seller.
    Can you give me your opinions on this?

    An interesting smock that would take a hands on inspection. I think this would likely be post-war, however, and looks like a mix of mountain anorak and standard smock.

    What I like:

    - The material and general sewing quality, some features like sleeve pulls
    - Fully reversible features

    What I don't like:

    - The pocket details, including the hidden buttons and pleats and general
    - The yoke cut and other hood features
    - the white-backed, (metal?) grommeted neck on the green side
    - lack of any industry-borrowed features I'd expect to see on a new pattern: it has very few features used on successful designs in use

    A hands-on inspection could change my mind, but I'm leaning towards no.

      Strange piece of clothing ...not a classical WH smock and not a GJ Anorak !
      A combination of the 2 , IMO privately made .

        Privately made, but when? The method of hole repair looks wartime, and the white has yellowing at the edges like many older pieces.

        GJ had anoraks and didn't need to make them, as did the line tactical units that needed smocks. To mimic an exiting smock design seems farfetched.

        Bear in mind, if it was field made, it would likely be produced from zelt splinter pattern material, like almost every original example found. There were not bolts of reversible swamp pattern material laying around, and this doesn't appear to be a modified piece.

        For me, the most puzzling features are the stripe of white on at the neck where the laces; visible on the green camo side this defeats the purpose of the green-side-out camo: a large white stripe at the wearer's throat. It also appears the hood is smaller than normal; most hoods fit over a helmet. Note the size of the hood on mine, below.

        It is a neat looking piece, but I'd be very careful and get solid return privileges. I think this one would take lots of explaining.

        Just my two cents. I could certainly be wrong.
