I purchased these as reproductions a couple of months ago. The guy said that they were coming out of Czech. There are minor differences between these and yours. One of these had a black backing on it. I had also returned one of this pattern to a forum member because I thought that they were new reproduction. They cost me 6, euro a piece.
I am very unsure of originality of these!!! The ones I picked up, I picked up as repros. 12, euro and postage. I returned one exactly like this to a forum member because I had just received these in the mail and they matched his eagle perfectly. I have had a few of this style and pattern before and always thought that they were original. I have another one around here that I will post once I find it. I have had it for a few years and it was coming apart around the top edge.
These eagles have had me wondering for the past few months.
Glen, Here is the eagle that I have had for a few years. They pretty much look the same but the backing cloth is a different color material. It is the same type of material though. I will also post side by side front and back shots of this eagle with my 6, euro eagle.
The discussion about these being new fakes was on the German MFF forum. I will see if I can find it. Madandi should have some input on this. I believe that he was part of the discussion.
I don't quite that capability but I did see that your eagle had what looked like a mane on the back of its head and none of these did.
I need to dig through one of my insignia boxes and find some of this backing material. This material is the same type of material that is used on some signal blitzes that I have. I will see if I can find it.
I dug through one of my boxes and came up with these signal blitzes with the same reverse backing material. These blitzes were sold at the Battlefield Store in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Mn. I have German friends that do not like these because the bobbin, bottom thread, is the same color as the top thread. I personally have no problem with them.
