    Heer Shooting Lanyard

    Hello all,

I have been offered a Heer Shooting Lanyard in a trade.

It has the first pattern shield on but I have not had one of these before.

    So my questions are.....

    Is it an original?

What is the average sale prices of these?

Many thanks if you can help.

While the components of this marksmanship lanyard look to be original, what immediately strikes me as being odd is the following observation:

The vast majority of original lanyards have 14 of the large silver loops; this lanyard only has 12. Why?

Perhaps the soldier was really short and had his lanyard cut down so when he was wearing it the lanyard did not hang down over his belt.

I have on hand many period photos of these lanyards in wear and have seen many other such photos but I have never observed such a shortening of an issue lanyard.

To me, the value is only the value of the shield and various lanyard parts.

The last image of a marksmanship lanyard, just added from another member, appears to be an East German lanyard with a TR shield applied to the rosette.
