      Hello,

Yes it is an original. It has been too closely trimmed though.

Both nice originals. Closely trimmed indeed yet still much nicer than any unissued example

I am not certain myself on these. I prefer in uniform-removed condition anyway.
But it is remarkable how many of packages of new unissued of such patches are on the market nowadays.

              Original embroidered ones ...
small lots of those GJ Edelweiss regularly come on the market as they were not destroyed post war, because not holding a swas !
I remember in the 70's seeing metallic ones sold in Bavarian Souvenir shops !

Why do always the odd, uncommon badges survive the war in this quantity?

                    Hello,

I believe that Andreas was referring to that it is the only example seen with a flower pedal under the stem leaf. The construction is different from most others, The material is a finer quality and they are coming out by the hundreds if not thousands. I always thought that these are a variation but looking at the construction of the reverse of this patch makes me a little skeptical.

                      Hi!
Thats correct. We have a discussion not long ago about exact this variant.

                        Hello,

Andi, check the back of the questioned patch and the back of the patch on the link. They are different!! The rear construction shows it all. I believe the patch with the purple back is good http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=296437
and this one is not https://www.militariaplaza.nl/unifor...rmbadge-detail IMHO!

CanĀ“t see a difference, expect the color of the back thread.
But we are hijacking this Thread!

                            Hello,

Andi you are correct. Stephen excuse me for highjacking your thread. Both of the BeVo edelweiss patches that you posted are nice originals.

You can find a box full of sleeve Edelweiss coming from the same manufacturer and still wrapped in cellophan per 10 pieces ?
So you will have these Edelweiss all over Internet , logical !
I agree regarding the multiple existing variations ( good for collectors ! ) but i had those in my hands and i didn't see any red flags ?
                              Neither "feeling" something wrong ?
