    Hello Guys,

I need your opinion on this Jäger badge. Is it WW2 or postwar? If you need some more detailed pics please let me know.

    Thanks

    Hello,

I believe this one to be a postwar piece.

        Hello Jan,

I believe that because of the color of the backing material and the weakness of the design. PM sent.

I believe it is a wartime piece.
You can find this green also on other badges.
For the detail is will take a look at mine.

              Hello,

I believe all of these badges on this material to be reproduction. This is and never was a facing color of the German Heer. Most patches on this color of backing also have a blue bobbin thread on the reverse side. There are other known, and poorly executed specialty patches made on this material. Again I refer to the weakness of design. This is almost the last variation of repro of the jaeger patch reproduced. Some of the tells are the spacing between the rope of the border and slender leaves on the top.

                Fred, i´m not sure.
After take a closer look at mine, i will agree with you, that the space in the leave is atypical.
Perhaps many of us have a lot of these small insigna in our collection and dont care about original or not. Same on collartabs, you know what i mean.
                here is mine to compare:

So what can we conclude gentlemen?
I cannot comment this because insignia are out of my knowledge.

Maybe it is a coincidence but I see that Andi's patch also has a little chunck missing in the dark green part.

                  Thanks

                    Hello,

Again we disagree over a Patch. To me any insignia on this color base material is a reproduction. I am not at home at the moment and cannot get pictures of the repros I have.

Again I refer to the weakness of the design. Even the last issue jaeger patches on the cheesecloth material were well executed and fully embroidered. The posted patch that started his thread is made on a colored material that was never used by the German army1934-1945 using a very weakly embroidered design. Compare it to these late/end of war patches.(Lower row in first photo and bottom three in the second photo)

                      Here is an excellent thread also on this subject;

                      http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ht=Jager+badge

The 9 original examples shown by member OSS in post number 54 of the linked thread are superb, as are the 18 original examples that Fred has shown on this current thread in post number 10

Good thread. Thanks for adding the link.
My badge is very similar like the one posted in post n°60 except for the little branch with acorn. Mine is in white (branch) and green (acorn) whil the other is in brown.

For anyone who find that the green backing is odd.
I had once a single collartab with such a green backing.
I still believe that there is chance.

                            Jaeger

My experience since the early 1960's has been that the lighter green insignia- whether Jaeger, Gebjaeger or specialty patches-are post-war copies. Fred is of the same opinion which I support.
