    Late Heer Assault Gun Wrapper-F-44

I wanted to show this one as I have not seen many AG wrappers that were very close to this type of late "feldgrau 44" wool..Typical late war recycled wool, the black dots you can see in the fabric are not moth holes but rather bits of black wool that were thrown in the mix. The soutache braid collar tabs and eagle are the original factory sewing, shoulder straps are the 44 pattern.

Another thing is that I can't recall ever seeing is a M-44 pattern breast eagle factory sewn to an assault gun wrapper (and very few Panzer wrappers using the M-44 pattern eagle) I don't even think there is one shown in the recent Pritchett series of books on PZ/AG wrappers other than on the HBT type wrappers.

It seems the factories (for the most part) just kept using the earlier type eagles either folded around the perimeter and sewn or folded in a trapazoid and sewn.I was thinking that maybe some of these factories late in the war had supply shortages of some sort,so they just used what they had available.

                Glenn:
Examples of original wraps from collections are in the books - black and field grey/Vols 1 and 2.

The challenge has been to find surviving photographs of the trapezoid eagle in wear on black and field grey wraps. Wish such photos were as relatively abundant as those of the M44 Feldbluse with trapezoid eagle.

I will look again but I don't remember seeing any (the M-44 type eagle) sewn on any wool ones in the books, the ones in there are standard eagles folded as a trapazoid..There are a few of the M-44 types sewn on the HBT wrappers..

                      Hi Glenn,
Well, it sure looks proper for the period. I really like the look of the insignia application and location, and the matching of the insignia (wool material/color).
                      Thank you for sharing,

Very nice wrap and cap. If you look very closely in the mix of this type of fabric sometimes you can actually see wood slivers. One WH joke at the end of the War was about the late clothing was that the clothing had so much wood pulp product in it that German soldiers could never drown wearing them.

Here is a shot of what appears to be the same tunic shown by a Forum member back in 2013:
