    M44 tunic with printed eagle

    Hi guys,

I would like to have your opinion on this M44 tunic and the originality of the breast eagle application.

Thanks a lot in advance !

    Best,

Looks to be a beautiful M44 textbook, are you buying it? If not, let me know..

Question, are there any maker/depot markings in the lining?

@Mayer: I'm in the process of buying it yes.

@Steve: I have only these info about the markings:
        - factory markings are in blue ink inside the left panel
        - These are highly faded and no really readable
        - There are some red ink markings: "43" and "243" at other places

Seam through mid back and waist band...maker's variant?

                Hello Max,

The eagle is a nice original and the application looks fine. Mike Davis showed some different styles of application in the 1945 printed eagle thread earlier.

I personally do not care for the type of collar tabs that are on this tunic though.

It took ages but I finally received the tunic so here are some more pictures

Together with the pictures I also listed some questions that I asked myself / details that I noticed while inspecting the tunic in hand.

I'm looking forward to your comments / answers !

1/ the collar is rather small for a M44 (and made is several pieces)

2/ The flaps of the breast pockets (especially the left side one - on the right on the picture) aren't cut really straight

3/ Also two threads have been used (2nd picture):
                    - brown for the structure (collar, lining, etc...)
                    - green for the breast pockets and button holes

4/ the eagle seems to be originally sewn:
                      - same brown thread than the rest of the tunic structure
                      - no ghost of another thread having ever been there.

Now as we saw on that thread, hard to be certain... http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=826398

5/ the front buttons are not sewn through the lining (only one is: probably a reparation as it's the only place this thread is used on the entire tunic)

6/ There are "43" numbers in red on the inside:
                        - 2 inside the waistband
                        - 1 inside a sleeve

Does anyone knows what these could be ??

First picture: the red "43" inside the sleeve

6/ Below is a picture of the markings. They are barely readable

7/ as seen on the first pictures posted some time ago, it's one of these M44 with a rear seam. In this case there is actually a seam on both the back and the waistband!
