2 is the nicer one but a 1936 first pattern wrap is by far more seldom.

Thanks very much to everyone. I was cautious of the odd sewn-on shoulder straps of #2, but if I remember the history properly it is one that Mr. P got out of Russia shortly after such things were possible.
